Our falconry hoods are an important piece of any falconer’s toolkit. They are helpful because birds of prey are not used to sudden movement and changes in the light. This makes them handy because the bird might get excited and jump off the falconer’s wrist too early.
Fitting Your New Hood:
- Clear of the eyes
- Snug against the face, EVEN when the braces are open, and
- The beak opening should be clear of the mouth parts for comfort. ALL of the mouth parts should be visible.
If your hood does not pass 1, 2 and 3, its not the right fit for your bird!
Please note colours may vary due to availability.
Dutch hoods usually has side panels of a contrasting colour to that of the centre, with a Turks Head Knot and fabric straps. The Dutch hood has an inverted V opening in the back where the braces close.
Arab hoods, like Dutch has side panels of a contrasting colour to that of the centre, with a Turks Head Knot and fabric straps. However rather than the inverted V opening at the back like the Dutch hood; it has a sealed back the pleats like an accordion.
